If you are looking for a slower pace, you should consider moving to Port Charlotte FL. This is said to be a small town in Charlotte County. It's situated between Sarasota and Naples. It's a true "snowbird" area. You will find the area is bustling half the year when people flock to the city from up north.
• History
It is only 200 years ago (1819) that Florida was ceded by the Spanish and became a US Territory. Then in 1845, it became the 27th State.
The real development of Port Charlotte started in the 1950ties. Back then homes with land could be bought for as little as $2,650, and the Midway area was the primary development area. Those days are gone!
• Location
Port Charlotte is just north of Peace River. On the other side of the river to the south, you have Punta Gorda with parks, restaurants, places that are must-sees such as Fishermen's Village and much more.

• Port Charlotte Beach Park
If you want to have a picnic on the beach, you should consider spending the day at Port Charlotte Beach Park. The park has a swimming pool and a picnic area. Lifeguards are on duty at the pool. The park is a great place to take a walk and watch the sunset on the water.
In and around the area you will find boat ramps, the possibility for fishing, canoe, and kayaking. Also basketball court, tennis court, volleyball courts, bocce ball, horseshoes, picnic shelter, playground beside the swimming pool and beach. Of course, you also have restrooms and a recreation center with room rentals available.
• Sunseeker Resort
Everyone is talking about the Sunseeker Resort. First, it was planned to break grounds in February 2018. So far (October 2018) we have seen land being prepared and demolition of structures that were once there. You can check out the project in details at Sunseeker Resort. • Port Charlotte Parks
Kiwanis Park is highly rated and a gem for Dog Owners. The park offers wooded walking trails, kids' play structures & picnic facilities. Also, Ollie's Pond Park is a great candidate for a visit. It's dog-friendly and has trails and lots of nature.
• In General
Port Charlotte has a wide range of homes that will fit every budget, location, and size. If you are lucky you can on occasions, find a home for as little as $50,000, and in the other end of the scale, you have architectural masterpieces in the millions usually with incredible water views and open water access.
